About After Porn Ends Documentary
Bryce Wagoner's documentary AFTER PORN ENDS takes a look at the post-porn careers of several famous American pornstars (both male and female). What are they doing now? How do they feel about it? What life lies ahead them? Interviewees include famous porn directors like John Leslie and Randy West but also starlets like Seka, Raylene and Asia Carrera. Their stories about life after porn are candid, smart, touching and sometimes quite sad. John Leslie, for example, found another artistic outlet as a painter, while Shelley Lubben transformed into a religious fanatic with Pink Cross. Some of them were struck by tragic twists of fate while others were able to move on to successful second careers. In Raylene's case, she went back to performing for the camera. Randy West, on the other hand, is quite happy playing golf all day long. Well, at least he's still fillin' holes!

The premise of AFTER PORN ENDS sounds interesting: illustrious pornstars as well as directors and porn-related people (e.g. former columnist Luke Ford) tell candid tales about their post-porn careers. Anti-porn lobbyists would probably like to hear that they've all become alcoholics or ultra-feminists, but that's not what happened to most former porn performers. Sure, some of them did take an extreme turn, but there are also plenty who managed to have successful second careers as, say, bounty hunters or painters. And let's not forget those that became moms and decided to devote their time to family life. And then there are the ones that entered the industry again for a comeback. AFTER PORN ENDS raises a lot of questions and answers most of them. In the end, it shows us that pornstars face the same problems as everyone else. On the whole, this documentary is quite satisfying even though it doesn't contain any real surprises.
