About Four Rooms
There's something magical about hotel rooms: they are your home away from home, yet you can pretty much do anything you want in them. More importantly, many people have done exactly that before you - and in the same bed too! For some people that's a huge turn-on. Surely, the maids could tell you all sorts of depraved stories about the things (or people!) they found left behind in those rooms - but none of those stories would be as thrilling as the four tales presented in this movie. Despite their differing narratives, the stories do have one thing in common: they all revolve around two young women making passionate love to each other. Some of the couples meet purely by accident in the hallway or bathroom. Others run into each other in the street and decide to spend the night together when the sparks begin to fly. There's also one couple that just needs a relaxing quickie after a long day at work ...

I must say this movie is a huge disappointment because it totally screwed with my expectations. FOUR ROOMS is one of my all-time favourite movies. Released in 1996, this indie cult flick was a joint effort between directors Allison Anders, Alexandre Rockwell, Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino. Yes, that's THE Quentin Tarantino I'm talking about. And Antonio Banderas starred in one of the lead roles - along with Madonna, although she was certainly not the most impressive name in the movie's illustrious lineup of thespians. The story is set on New Year's Eve and revolves around four parties of people and their exploits during one night at a hotel. A poor little bellhop also plays a part in the story but at least he gets away with a blowjob for all his troubles. That bit of oral action, by the way, is pretty much the only carnal activity you'll find in this mainstream flick.
If you want to see more explicit action, you will have to turn to this lezzie version that is, unfortunately, very loosely based on the mainstream movie of the same title (if at all). It's a real shame, because the original FOUR ROOMS is definitely a good foundation for a porn spoof. Hence I can only conclude that this title is a complete rip-off. That said, if you're not expecting to see a parody of the indie cult flick, you will be pleasantly surprised by the passionate girl/girl sex in this movie. The narrative foursome might not sport great acting, but very decent performances from girls like Charlotte Stokely (my personal fave). She plays the part of the seduced victim very convincingly. I wish she would appear in more movies.
On the whole, a great little film that has fuck-all to do with the indie box office success of the nineties.
