About The 8th Day
It's peak season for stories about world downfall. Everybody wants to know what's gonna happen with us in the future. But do we even want to live long enough to find out? Samantha (Kayden Kross) doesn't have to ask herself that question - when she wakes from an artificial coma, she finds herself in the future. But the world has changed, human beings have vanished from the face of the planet. Now there are roaming bands of humanoid sex fiends out there who like to eat their sex partners after the act! Samantha ends up their prisoner but is freed by a lone warrior (Amber Rayne). The real danger is yet to come, though. Her life hangs by a silver thread and the countdown is running - she has just 8 more days to live...

I never feel entirely at ease watching one of these big-budget porn movies. Usually they sacrifice hot sex scenes (and sometimes a coherent plot) for eye-popping production value. But this one is an exception - even though the cardboard sets threaten to give any moment under the strain of the in-and-out action! The SFX are excellent and feature many computer-generated visions of the apocalypse. Even better, the performers turn out to be competent actors. That said, some of the scenes drag quite a bit (especially the ones with all the monstrous shrieking). Overall, this feature film is well worth your time.

Evidently, this movie was not shot in one afternoon. For this big-budget extravaganza whole sets had to be built, costumes had to be sewn and a script had to be written. The end-of-days atmosphere is perfectly captured and the movie's theme (the financial exploitation of other people's plights) rings true. Excellent production values and stimulating sex scenes (often including three or more performers) make this adult feature film shine. If you ask me, this is quite easily one of the best porn movies of 2009.
